Prior to opening on the 1st June 2020 the management team undertook a thorough risk assessment of our business in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and I am pleased to share the actions we have taken to ensure that we operate a safe working environment for both staff and our valued customers.
Working with our manufacturer partners we have implemented a range of changes to how we operate to ensure we minimise the risk of infection from Covid-19 at any of our facilities. These changes range from how we physically work on your car to how we will interact with you.
We have installed Perspex protection sneeze screens on all Sales, Parts and Service Advisor desks to ensure the maximum possible protection for you and ourselves. All our customer-facing colleagues will wear masks and we have processes in place to ensure regular and effective hand washing throughout the day for all colleagues. You will find hand sanitiser pump stations throughout the dealership for your use.
We have reconfigured our showrooms by removing cars and expanding customer waiting areas and we have introduced a one-way system within our buildings to reduce the risk of close contact with an entrance and an exit for the showrooms. Unfortunately, we have removed our coffee making facilities and other refreshments to help reduce the spread of infection. We have sourced extensive supplies of anti-bacterial / viral hand gels, sanitising fluids, sprays and wipes all of which meet the highest standards and proven to kill the Covid-19 virus, you will be asked to sanitise your hands upon entry to the building.
All customers cars booked in for servicing, warranty, routine maintenance, MOT’s or accident repair will have protection film wrap applied to the steering wheel, handbrake and gear selector by our technicians. Disposable paper mats will be put into the drivers footwell and plastic seat covers placed over any seat that might be used. All technicians will wear nitrate gloves and masks whist working on vehicles. Prior to collection the vehicle will be fully sanitised by using our Dasic RTU Aerokleen machines as used by some airlines to sanatise aircraft. Keys and touch points will also be wiped clean with anti-bacterial wipes. All items listed are one use only items and will not be swapped between cars thus negating the risk of spreading infection.
Every evening the offices and buildings will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised and during the day there will be a rotor in place to constantly clean touch points within the buildings with anti-bacterial wipes. Some doors will be propped open to reduce the amount of touching required.
Whilst it is impossible to guarantee a totally safe environment, it is beholden upon us all to ensure that every possible precaution and action is taken to minimise any risk we might be exposed to. To that end, we have consulted extensively and I am confident that we have adopted the very best practices and processes to create the safest possible environment possible.
We really hope that we will be able to welcome you back to Winchester Motor Group at the earliest opportunity, as a family run business, our commitment is for the safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers and I hope that from the measures we have taken you can visit us safe in the knowledge that we have your best interests at heart.
